The Department of English was established in the year 2013 in SRFGCC, Belagavi. The Department offers studies in Basic and Optional English. Since 2013, the Department has been offering the plethora of knowledge to the student community. The Department aspires to uphold the integrity of teaching and learning the English language and literature, encouraging the students to explore the opportunities in a wide range of academics.
The Department focuses specifically on the subjects like Linguistics, Criticism, and Theoretical Approaches to Literature, Indian English Literature and English Language Teaching. The syllabus of the Department is pragmatically designed to develop skills of language learning. The Department has six faculties, (one permanent and five guest faculties) working incessantly for the welfare and development of the department.

There is certainly scope for the
subjects Basic and Optional English as it is mandatory for all the students
to learn English. English as a subject includes both language and literature which
enhances the factors of opportunities in the job market. The students can develop
their skills in language and literature according their interests and upgrade
themselves for higher studies. English as an Optional and Basic subject offers
wide and varied prospects in the fields of technology, business, teaching,
academic writing, creative writing, translation etc. Higher education in English
provides vivid opportunities to explore and research the world literature. |
