About Cell:
The "Red Cross Society" is a well-known, admired, widely accepted, and globally recognised humanitarian assistance organisation. It is the largest autonomous, non-religious, non-political, non-sectarian, and voluntary relief organisation that treats everyone equally, regardless of their race, religion, or nationality. It was founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1863. The famous businessman "Jean Henry Dunant" is known as the "Father of the Red Cross Movement." On June 24, 1859, Dunant visited Castiglione while on a business trip. The neighbouring Battle of Solferino between the French and Austrian soldiers took place on the same day. The sight of the injured soldiers and their predicament startled and touched Dunant. When he saw the sad scenario, he forgot his business and began providing aid to all injured soldiers without distinction, enlisting the assistance of local villagers. He received the Noble Prize for Peace in 1901 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to society.
The Red Cross Unit at SRFGC College was established in June 2008 in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS). The unit was formed with the objective of promoting humanitarian values, providing assistance during emergencies, and creating awareness about health and safety among the college community and the surrounding areas.
Since its inception, the Red Cross Unit has been actively involved in various activities aimed at serving the community and fostering a spirit of volunteerism among the students. The unit has organized numerous blood donation drives, where students and staff members have willingly donated blood to save lives. These blood donation camps have been instrumental in addressing the constant demand for blood in hospitals and emergency situations.
In July 2019, the Red Cross Unit at SRFGC College transitioned to operating independently, separate from the NSS. This move allowed the unit to have more autonomy in planning and implementing their initiatives, enabling them to focus specifically on the activities and projects related to the Red Cross's mission.
The Red Cross Unit at SRFGC College continues to uphold the principles of the Red Cross movement, namely humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality. Through their dedicated efforts, they have made a positive difference in the lives of individuals, emphasizing the importance of compassion, solidarity, and service to humanity.

MISSION:
To inspire, promote, and organise all kinds of humanitarian endeavors in an effort to minimise and avoid human suffering and so help to foster a peaceful atmosphere.
PURPOSE OF YOUTH RED CROSS:
Through its "Junior" and "Youth" activities, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) significantly contributes to directing and channelling the youthful energies towards the cause of humanitarian action. The Indian Red Cross Society's parent organization's "Youth Red Cross" (YRC) is its most significant component.
The major goal of the YRC movement is to help young people develop their moral and intellectual capacities. It is built on the ideals of health and life protection, service to the ill and suffering, and promotion of national and international friendship.
Youth are the future of every nation in the world. Our university educates its students to be compassionate people, giving them the chance to assist the less fortunate.
FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES:
The ‘Seven Fundamental Principles’ of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are:
• Humanity
• Impartiality
• Neutrality
