About Cell:
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. The National Service Schemes voluntary and value based student youth title being launched on 24th September 1969, during Mahatma Gandhi's Birth Centenary Year. It was inaugurated by the then central education minister Dr. V. K. R. V. Rao. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.
NSS was established in SRFGCC in the academic year 2008–09. Both the Central and State governments support the NSS cell. The National Service Scheme implements social and community engagement initiatives as part of educational expansion. The college's principal is guiding and supporting the NSS cell's efforts in this area.
Vision:
The vision is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and work for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.
Mission:
The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service of the people and hence NSS Aims Education through Community Service and Community Service through Education.
National Service Scheme: Outcomes
* Improve the quality of educated manpower by fostering social responsibility.
* Raising society to a higher material and moral level by preparing students for final dedication in the service of nation.
* Introduce urban students to rural life by living in contact with the community in whose midst their institution is located.
* Making campus relevant to the needs of the community.
* Develop constructive linkage between the campus and the community by supplementing technical education with social and economic reconstruction of the country.
* Involvement in the tasks of national development.
* Better understanding and appreciation of the problems of the society.
* Encourage Community participation.

Activities:
* NSS activities have been divided in three major groups. These are regular NSS activities, special camping programmes and others
* Regular NSS Activity: Under this, students undertake various programmes in the adopted villages, college/school campuses and urban slums during weekends or after college hours. Every volunteer should serve 120 hours in a year and fulfill the requirement of 240 hours in a period of 2 years. The volunteer should work 4 hours in a week which includes the camps at adopted villages.
* Special Camping Programme: Under this, camps of seven days duration are organised in adopted villages or urban slums during vacations with some specific projects by involving local communities. 50% NSS volunteers are expected to participate in these camps.
* Along with above major Programmes National, State, District level leadership, National Integration Camps and Training programmes were organised.
